Stan Cook Elected Chair of TIAC

November 10, 2008 - Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL) congratulates Stan Cook Jr. on being elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) at last week's Canada's Tourism Leadership Summit in Gatineau, Quebec. This is the first time the Chair position has been filled by a representative from Newfoundland and Labrador.

"Stan has proven himself to be a true champion and leader of the tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada," said Bruce Sparkes, HNL President. "I have no doubt that he will be a formidable leader of our national association. Stan's passion and knowledge of the industry, its challenges and opportunities, will no doubt contribute to positive steps for tourism as we maneuver through these uncertain economic and environmental times."

Stan Cook Sea Kayak Adventures is one of the province’s first adventure tourism operations, having been in business since 1970. Stan was the founding President of the Adventure Tourism Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. He chairs the Brand Experiences committee with the Canadian Tourism Commission and is currently the Chair of the Gros Morne Institute for Sustainable Tourism. Stan is a past co-chair of the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership and past Chair of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador.
