Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador to celebrate Tourism Awareness Week
Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador’s (HNL’s) Chair Bruce Sparkes will be joined by the Minister of Tourism Culture and Recreation the Honourable Clyde Jackman and HNL’s Tourism Awareness Week Committee Chair Kory Turpin on Monday, June 1st to officially launch Tourism Awareness Week. The event will be held at The Beach House/Atlantica in Portugal Cove-St. Philips, one of the provinces best examples of the quality products and services travelers will experience in visiting Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tourism Awareness Week is a national initiative to bring awareness to the contribution tourism makes both economically and socially to each region of the country. The launch of Tourism Awareness Week in Newfoundland and Labrador will begin a weeklong event that will showcase Newfoundland and Labrador’s quality products and services to potential travelers both from away and from the province.

HNL Chair Bruce Sparkes says, “Tourism Awareness Week is tremendously important in showcasing Newfoundland and Labrador’s quality products and services to potential travelers both from away and from this province. In such uncertain economic times, the resident marketing campaign will show residents of the province the great opportunities there are to have a great vacation right here at home. The myriad of unique experiences that our tourism operators offer throughout the province will give any traveler a vacation to remember.”

Kory Turpin, Tourism Awareness Week Chair and owner/operator of The Beach House/Atlantica comments, “There are so many great products and services in the province that residents can enjoy. As a business owner in the province, I am delighted to see operators coming up with unique ideas and embracing the changing times to give visitors the experience they are looking for. Inherently, we know how to provide good products and services, now it’s time to take it to the next level and find new ways to reach and interact with our customers.”

Additional events are taking place throughout Tourism Awareness Week that will highlight tourism initiatives, products and services that contribute to making Newfoundland and Labrador an ideal travel destination for people that want something a little out of the ordinary.
